One of the companies that I work with is Beneq Oy - a Finnish clean-tech. company specialising in the application of surface coatings. Amongst other things, they can do clever things that enables glass to be coated at the end of a float line to produce some wonderful colours and surfaces.
What's my interest? Coming from the chemistry and environmental/sustainability angle I'm interested in the life cycle analysis of nanoparticulates and materials that contain these. This extends to the production and use of engineered nanoparticulates - occupational health and environmental issues consequent to the inescapable fact that the chemistry of these compounds, as fine particulates, relies more on the surface area, shape, mass, distribution, agglomeration, crystallinity, solubility, degradability. coating, surface charge or any one of a number of other aspects, rather than just mere elemental composition. This is interesting...and important...and worth spending time looking into. As a responsible company, Beneq agree, and we do it together.
