One of the companies that I work with is Beneq Oy - a Finnish nanotechnology applications company specialising in the application of surface coatings. Amongst other things, they can do clever things that enables glass to be coated at the end of a float line to produce some wonderful colours and surfaces.
What's my interest? Coming from the chemistry and environmental/sustainability angle I'm interested in the life cycle analysis of nanoparticulates and materials that contain these. This extends to the production and use of engineered nanoparticulates - occupational health and environmental issues consequent to the inescapable fact that the chemistry of these compounds, in this state, can rely more on the surface area of the particles than the simple elemental composition.
